It is also known as Sun City as the city enjoys the bright sun all the year even in winter days. It is also known as Blue city because most of the houses are painted blue in this city. This city has also topped many times in extraordinary cities to live in India. Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha on 12 May 1459.  So here are some reasons for which you would like to visit Jodhpur. 


Jaswant Thada

Jaswant Thada was built in the year 1899 in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh. It is situated near to Mehrangarh Fort. The serene of the marvel construction is enchanting. The carvings are very intricate. Inside Jaswant Thada, you will see the pictures of the Rathore rulers. There is also a stunning multi-level garden in Jaswant Thada.

Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort is one of the must visit places in Jodhpur. It is one of the biggest Indian Forts. This Fort has been built 400 feet above the city. Rao Jodha built the fort in 1459 AD. The fort started to construct in 1459 and it has seen many centuries before it completed. The design of this fort is very inspiring. It offers different views of the city. The fort stands as a symbol of power. 


Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park

The aim behind the formation of Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park in the year 2006 was to restore the rocky area near the fort. The 200 acres of park is located near the Mehrangarh Fort. The place reflects the hard work and dedication of the ecologists who spared no efforts to make the place green.


Balsamand Lake

Balsamand Lake is manufactured artificial lake that was made by Balak Rao Parihar in 1159 AD. The lavish greenery around the lake has many forests like mango trees, papaya trees, and trees of guava and pomegranate. Balsamand Lake was planned to serve as a summer resort for royal families of Jodhpur. The lawns and gardens with birds and peacocks finding their homes here, the place is exquisite.


Kailana Lake

Kailana Lake is situated on the West part of the city. This is another artificial lake which was made by Pratap Singh in 1872. This is one of the most visited lakes in Rajasthan. It is also a birdwatcher’s spot. If you want to take some incredible photographs of this place then you can also sail on the boat. 


Khejarla Fort

Situated 85 kilometers from the Jodhpur city, the 400-year old Khejarla Fort is located in a rural area. The stunning red sandstone landmark, now a hotel, is a case of Rajput architecture. Guests will be mesmerized by the fort's pleasant settings, latticework friezes, and Jharokas.



Moti Mahal

Moti Mahal, as the name recommends, is the Pearl Hall where the royal families used to hold their audience. The hall is known to have glass windows and five nooks that enabled the queens to listen to the audience in the Sringar Chowki, The Royal Throne of Jodhpur.



Phool Mahal

As the name says, the Phool Mahal or Flower Hall is the most over the top of the considerable number of halls in the palace. This lovely chamber is said to be the pleasure dome for the Maharajas. The gold utilized for building the Mahal brought from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.




Sheesh Mahal

Located inside the compound of Mehrangarh Fort is the palace of a glass of Jodhpur, known as Sheesh Mahal. This beautiful place of architecture is embellished with walls of mirror work that stretch across ceilings and to the floors. It is superimposed by the mirror work of brilliantly painted religious figures cast in plaster.


Siddhant Shiv Temple

Siddhanth Shiv temple is situated between Takhat Sagar hills and Kalyana Lake. Its way is on Chopasani Road and it is about 10 Kms away from Jodhpur. You can reach the temple only after crossing the hundreds of stairs made up by cutting rocks. Once upon a time the place, exactly where the temple now stands, was completely a deserted area.



Sachiya Mata Temple
 
The Sachiya Mata Temple is located in Osian, near Jodhpur. Osian is 60-65 km from Jodhpur. In this Temple mother goddess Sachiya (Also called Indrani) is worshiped by many castes living in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and North India. She is “Kul Devi” (a protector goddess of a community) of many of well-known communities.



Ramdevra Temple

This temple is well known in India.
